British actress Keira Knightley is confirmed to be expecting her first child, Page Six reports.
Knightley is now more than three months pregnant with her first child, by husband James Righton, the co-vocalist and keyboardist for the London band Klaxons.
Rumors about her pregnancy flared up when Knightley showed up at the Moët British Independent Spirit Awards last Sunday, and even refrained from alcoholic drinks. Her outfit that night also spurred some raised eyebrows and knowing nods, as Emily Smith of Page Six writes.
"The famously svelte star appeared at her husband's side in an embroidered and billowy, ivory fur-trimmed Rocha dress very different from her usual fitted style."
Knightley has been the subject of speculation for quite some time as to whether or not she is indeed pregnant, but it's been quite a difficult subject to confirm, says Natalie Finn of E! News, due to the actress' "teeny-tiny figure."
"It's been pretty tough to tell what could have just been a coat with a fuller cut from a baby bump," says Finn.
Well, the speculation ends here. According to Vogue's Lucy Hutchings, a spokesperson for the actress has confirmed that Keira Knightley is indeed carrying a baby, her first.
Knightley and Righton was married back in May 2013 in the South of France. The actress had just received two nominations for her role in "The Imitation Game" opposite Benedict Cumberbatch, one from the Screen Actors Guild and another for a Golden Globe award.
The British star had said during a last year's interview with Elle that she wasn't planning on having babies at the moment, and added that her fantasy film script would probably be about "the horrendous issue of trying to have a baby when you can't."
The actress was also asked about her plans for her daughter if she had one, and whether she would encourage going into acting.
"Oh, 100%, I'd absolutely tell her not to. I would 150 million trillion per cent be totally discouraging," she replied. "Teenage years should be done privately. You should be going out and getting unbelievably drunk, getting into ridiculous situations, making mistakes. That's what that time of life is about and we should do that privately."
