"Diana: Glimpses Of A Modern Princess," a collection of designer dresses worn by Princess Diana of Wales, went on display in Kensington Palace in central London as it reopened on Tuesday.
The exhibition preview will turn into full public showing on March 26.
The collection of princess Diana's outfits includes a fuchsia and purple silk chiffon sari dress, a black taffeta floor-length gown by Elizabeth and David Emmanuel, a black silk shift evening dress by Versace, an ivory silk formal dinner dress and a black and white cocktail dress.
"We have carefully selected this collection of exquisite dresses to illustrate to visitors Diana’s evolving style and the important role fashion played in creating her public image," said curator Deirdre Murphy.
"As the princess’s former home, Kensington Place is an ideal setting to showcase these gowns – the atmosphere of the display will be truly magical."
The exhibition also features tribute wallpaper inside the royal residence, with sketches of the late princess.
"We didn’t want this exhibition to be museum-like. We hope that this depicts the Princess in a way that people have never seen her before," said Murphy.
"It will offer our visitors a fresh perspective on one of the most photographed women in the world, who had a significant influence on British style and fashion."
