"Law & Order" alum Saffron Burrows has revealed she married "Ellen DeGeneres Show" writer Alison Balian 16 months ago, according to E! News.
Burrows spoke about the marriage in an interview with The Guardian's Hermione Hoby. "I chose to speak to you because I don't want to lie by ommision and I want to be very straightforward about my life," she said.
"I don't want to hesitate and feel hindered by something I haven't said," she explained. "Also, I'm really proud of my family and who they are, these two individuals beside me. That's certainly my proudest achievement. And for my boy, I want to be honest with him because he deserves it - but also proud."
Burrows did not want to give away too much away about the wedding but she did share that she and her wife eloped.
"We hadn't told anyone and then I called my mum and she said, 'You haven't eloped! You only elope when you're young and in trouble!'" she joked.
She admitted that she avoided discussing the marriage because she was afraid of what people might say.
"I maybe felt increasingly private as I got older because I became aware of the gravity of statements. And how they linger and last," she explained.
Burrows described her relationship with Balian simply by saying, "I'm with this woman now who's extraordinary and that's what we're doing."
She also spoke about coming out as gay wasn't necessary for her.
"There's no coming out to do because I've always just followed my heart and I was lucky enough to have parents who didn't impose any bigotry on me," she explained. "So to come out would actually be an untruth because the men I've loved were very vivid, real, loving relationships."
Burrows revealed she was pregnant with her and Balian's child in 2012, according to Daily Mail.
Prior to her marriage to Balian, Burrows dated actress Fiona Shaw, who is popularly known for portraying the character of Mrs. Dursley in "Harry Potter." She was also involved in a long relationship with British film director Mike Figgis. She also dated actor Alan Cumming.
