Games developer Ubisoft has issued an official apology to its customers via newsletters and emails regarding the bug-ridden game "Assassin's Creed: Unity", reports BBC News, and has announced that it will be offering up free DLC content as a way to make up for the glitchy game.
Yannis Mallat, Ubisoft CEO for Montreal and Toronto, writes in a newsletter that dealing with the backlash from less-than-satisfied customers has been "both humbling and helpful".
"The launch of Assassin's Creed Unity was a highly-anticipated moment for me and for our development teams around the world who dedicated a tremendous amount of energy, passion and skill to the game's creation," writes Mallat.
"Unfortunately, at launch, the overall quality of the game was diminished by bugs and unexpected technical issues. I want to sincerely apologize on behalf of Ubisoft and the entire Assassin's Creed team."
Ubisoft announced that the "Dead Kings" DLC will now be free for everyone who buys the game once it is released, whether for the Playstation 4, Xbox One, or PC, reports Kotaku. Those who already bought the season pass or Gold edition of the game will instead get another game from Ubisoft for free.
The free games, as listed in their update page, will be the following: The Crew, Far Cry 4, Watch Dogs, Assassin's Creed: Black Flag, Rayman Legends, and Just Dance 2015.
Since then, Ubisoft has been hard at work to fix as many of the problems in the game as quickly as possible. The games studio has been rolling out two big patches to fix game crashing issues, as well as animation glitches and network connectivity issues. The latest patch has just been released, with more than 300 fixes to the game, according to GameSpot.
"Patch 3 includes over three hundred fixes designed to improve your Assassin's Creed Unity experience. While you might notice some improvements to framerate as a result of Patch 3, we still have a future patch planned to further address framerate concerns," said their forum post.
