Melissa Rivers and her family will host a Thanksgiving dinner in honor of her late mother Joan Rivers at Upper East Side condominium owned by the late comedienne, Ace Showbiz reported.
Rivers continued her yearly tradition of celebrating Thanksgiving and decided to invite close relatives and some friends to dinner at her late mother's condominium.
Judy Katz, the spokeswoman for Rivers' mother, confirmed the news to Page Six. She refused to comment further on the matter, but a source shared more news.
The source claimed that Rivers kept her mother's apartment exactly how it was after her death, and also said that Rivers was also opening her home to those who might not have family members to spend the holidays with.
The source added that that Rivers' table seated 50 people and that every year Rivers would ask each one to stand up and talk about the things that they were thankful for in the past year.
"This year, it will be said without Joan, but Melissa wants the occasion to be a happy one, to remember her mother and everything she did for other people," the source concluded.
Rivers' mother's condominium, which she called the place "where Marie Antoinette would have lived if she had money," is reportedly worth $35 million, stretches 5000 square feet, has gold pillars, gold-lined walls and chandeliers, according to Page Six.
Over the years, the family and Rivers' mother Joan have invited guests to their home during the holiday season, such as Vanity Fair journalist Nancy Jo Sales and comedienne Lynne Koplitz, according to Ace Showbiz.
Rivers' mother died earlier this year on Sept. 4 due to complications during a medical check-up and reports have it that Rivers is planning to sue for malpractice and wrongful death, according to TMZ.
The law firm Gair, Gair, Conason, Steigman, Mackauf, Bloom & Rubinowitz which Rivers hired will reportedly file the lawsuit sometime next month.
