Creed frontman Scott Stapp has claimed in a Facebook video that he is broke and now lives at a Holiday Inn, People reports.
Stapp posted a nearly 16-minute video to his Facebook page titled "Public Statement #1" to clear up rumors about him. He says he is sober and have been undergoing tests weekly to prove it.
"I'm sure you've heard the many rumors and slanderous, libelous accusations over the last few weeks," Strapp said in the beginning of the video. "First, I was dead. That came out obviously that it was a hoax."
He continued, "Then there were rumors that I'm on drugs and drinking and relapsed and in rehab, all these other things. That's also a lie...I'm sober as can be."
According to the singer, his problems arose eight weeks ago when he learned that a lot of the money on his bank account had gone missing, Rolling Stone says.
"About eight weeks ago, I began an audit of not only my record company but my personal finances," he explained. "During the course of that audit, a lot of things were uncovered. A lot of money was stolen from me, or royalties not paid, and that's when all hell began to break loose."
Strapp said some people have been stealing from him and he is set on finding a lawyer who would help him solve the case he is planning to file. He revealed he slept in his truck for a couple of weeks before staying at a Holiday Inn.
The video comes days after the Miami Herald reported that Strapp and his wife Jaclyn are calling it quits. Jaclyn Stapp has reportedly filed for divorce, claiming the singer abandoned her and their three children in October.
Jaclyn also claimed in the divorce petition that Scott is abusing illegal drugs, saying "[he is] doing so much ampetamines, crystal meth and steroids that he has become a paranoid shell who has threatened to kill himself and harm his family."
A representative for the Palm Beach County Shefiff's Office went to check up on Strapp's home last week, according to TMZ, and found him and his family well.
