With the release of their fourth studio album "Four," One Direction made history as the only group to have their first four albums debut at number one on the Billboard 200 chart, Billboard reported.

The British/Irish boy band, who gained global popularity after participating in the UK X Factor, is now the only group in the 58-year history of the charts to have their first four albums finish at number one after their release, according to the Time Magazine.

Last year, One Direction also made history when their third album "Midnight Memories" debuted at number one, making them the first group to have all three albums debut atop the Billboard 200.

According to the figures compiled by Nielsen SoundScan, the fourth album of the group has made $387,000 in its opening week, from its release on Nov.17 Reuters reported.

Additionally, the figure has earned One Direction the title of the second largest debut for 2014 in terms of sales, the top spot still held by Taylor Swift, whose newly released album "1989" earned $1.2 million in its opening week.

According to the Daily Mail UK, not only is the group taking over the Billboard chart, but has also reached the top spot on iTunes in 85 countries all over the world.

Additionally, 1D has also made history on Spotify as the most streamed album. "Four" was streamed 11.6 million times in the United States and 20 million times worldwide on the music streaming platform.

Overall, Billboard said that One Direction is the fourth act to have their first four solo albums debut at the number one spot, joining the ranks of R&B star Beyonce, rapper DMX and Pop Princess Britney Spears.
