Actor Chris Colfer has signed a new five-book deal with Little, Brown, Deadline reports.
The Golden Globe-winning "Glee" star has signed on to continue and expand his best-selling children's book series "Land of Stories." The new deal will have him pen a picture book, a young adult novel, two children's books and the final installment of his popular franchise.
Colfer shared the titles of the books he will be working on to his followers on Twitter, writing "TLOS4, TLOS5, The Mother Goose Diaries, Queen Red Riding Hood's Guide To Royalty, and picture books about the Curvy Tree and Trollbella."
"The Mother Goose Diaries" and "Queen Red Riding Hood's Guide To Royalty" will be companion books for children's book series.
"Curvy Tree" will be illustrated by Brandon Dorman. "Trollbella" will be centered on a popular character from his "Land of Stories" series.
The young adult novel has yet to be given a title and release date. It will be Colfer's second time to write for the genre. His first YA book titled "Struck by Lightning: The Carson Phillips Journal" was published in 2012 and adapted into a film the same year and starred Colfer in the lead role.
Colfer shared his excitement for the new deal in a statement, saying: "'The Land of Stories' has reached an audience beyond my wildest dreams. I'm thrilled it's been so well received by kids, their teachers and librarians, and their parents (and sometimes their older siblings, too)."
Little, Brown editor-in-chief Alvina Ling is just as thrilled with the deal, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
"Chris Colfer has been an absolute dream author to work with - he continues to impress me with everything that he writes," Ling said in a statement. "It's a rare talent indeed who is able to effortlessly switch between writing for middle grade, young adult, and picture book audiences, and Chris does so brilliantly."
The first installment of his children's fiction franchise called "The Land of Stories: The Wishing Spell" came out in 2012. The fourth book in the series will be released in July 2015, according to Entertainment Weekly, and the final book is due out in July 2016.
