Music icon Bette Midler has given her final say on the issue involving her and pop star Ariana Grande, Billboard reports.
Midler tagged the "Love Me Harder" singer on her tweet, which read, "About my screed on @ArianaGrande, all I can say is, 'Spoken like a reformed old whore! She does have a beautiful voice, on a couch or off."
The veteran singer cited Grande as an example of the seemingly never-ending ploy to use sex in promoting music when she spoke to UK's The Telegraph on Monday.
"It's terrible! It's always surprising to see someone like Ariana Grande with that silly high voice, a very wholesome voice, slithering around on a couch looking so ridiculous," Midler said. "I mean, it's silly beyond disbelief and I don't know who's telling her to do it."
She continued, "But it's not my business, I'm not her mother. Or her manager. Maybe they tell them that's what you've got to do. Sex sells. Sex has always sold."
Giving an advice to aspiring entertainers, she said, "Trust your talent. You don't have to make a whore out of yourself to get ahead. You really don't."
Grande has aired her side on the matter in a tweet on November 26, according to E! News.
"Bette was always a feminist who stood for women being able to do whatever the F they wanted without judgment!" the "Bang Bang" singer began. "Not sure where that Bette went but I want that sexy mermaid back."
The tweet was accompanied by a photo of the singer-actress as her alter ego Delores Delago, a wheelchair-bound mermaid.
She followed it with another tweet saying she will remain a fan of the legendary singer.
"And I will still quote first wives club every single day of my life lmao," Grande tweeted, referencing one of Midler's popular films.
