This spring, one of the biggest trends seen on the runways and red carpets was peplum, adorning the waist lines with frills and fringes, creating a curvy silhouette.

Peplum was a fashion trend in the 40s, the 60s and the 80s, referring to ruffled details aroudn the waist area of a dress, a skirt or a blouse. It adds boldness and curves to the body shape, adding voluptuous drama to any simple look.

The peplum trend was recently spotted on Kate Middleton on her tour with the Queen, where the Duchess wore a thick belt over teal jacket and dress by LK Bennett.

Among celebrity fashionistas - from Rihanna to Diane Kruger to Emma Stone to Jessica Chastain - whether hit or miss, peplum wave is rising.
