Jennifer Lopez admitted that her enormous entourage of assistants, stylists and makeup artists might be one of the reasons why her past relationships with Ben Affleck and Marc Anthony failed.
In an interview about Lopez's new book "True Love" at New York's 92nd Street Y Thursday, Nov. 6, Hoda Kotb asked the 45-year-old actress-singer what might have gone wrong in her previous romances, Page Six reported.
And the "American Idol" judge - who travels with a big crew that includes her manager Benny Medina, her trainer, Tracy Anderson, and an army cadre of stylists and handlers - responded: "There's a lot of people in my life and that's hard. There's people in the house. There's hair and makeup. It's a lot, I think, for someone to deal with."
The "On The Floor" hitmaker also said that the pressure of fame might also hurt her past relationships. "Forget about all the outside stuff, being judged, being under scrutiny in the relationship... I guess that adds in," she said. "But I think they would say that [the entourage] was a big part of their discomfort, if there was any."
In an interview with Maria Shriver on the "Today" show, aired on Nov. 3 and 4, Lopez revealed that she had no idea what true heartbreak was until she broke up with Affleck in 2004.
The "I Luh Ya Papi" singer was promoting "True Love" when Shriver commented on how fast the "Maid in Manhattan" actress was to wed her long-time friend Anthony after her broken engagement to the "Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice" actor. Lopez tied the knot with Anthony in June 2004 - just six months after she and Affleck broke up.
"Right, you're absolutely right," Lopez told Shriver, as quoted by Us Weekly. "It was probably my first big heartbreak, and to have one of my best friends who I'd known for years, who I actually love and did have chemistry with, come into my life and say, 'I'm here'...What you need to know is, nobody can save you or heal you, only you can do that for you."
In February 2008, Lopez and Anthony welcomed their now 6-year-old twins Max and Emme. But three years later, the couple announced their split, with Anthony filing for divorce in April 2012. The divorce was finalized in June 2014.
In "True Love," Lopez revealed that her twins were one of the reasons why she decided to end her marriage to Anthony.
"We sat down together," the "Maid in Manhattan" star wrote, as quoted by Huffington Post. "[And I told him] 'This is not working. You know it's not working. We're not living like a family, and I don't see how things are going to change. Neither of us is happy, and the kids are wondering what's going on. I think we should move on with our lives.'"
