Robert Downey Jr. took to his Facebook page Wednesday, Nov. 5, to confirm reports that his wife Susan had already given birth to their second child.
But instead of making the announcement formal, the 49-year-old actor, best known for his portrayal of Tony Stark in "Iron Man" and "Avengers" film series, chose to be playful in sharing the happy news with his 22.5 million Facebook fans.
"After 9 months of intensive development, Team Downey is pleased to announce our 2014 fall/winter project," the Oscar-nominated actor wrote on the social media site. "Principal photography commenced 11-14 and will continue until she says, 'Dad! You are embarrassing me...I'm 30, this has gotta stop.'"
"Yep...Avri Roel Downey joined the party @ 3:22 a.m. on November 4th," the "Avengers: Age of Ultron" star added. "She's 7lbs even, spans 20 inches, and is accompanied by a variety of Susan's traits that have seemingly overwritten my 'junk DNA.'"
"I'll post pics here + there when I'm not too busy staring...," he ended his funny post.
The couple's new bundle of joy joins their 2 1/2-year-old son Exton, and Downey's 21-year-old son Indio, whom he shares with ex-wife Deborah Falconer, People reported.
Downey first hinted that he and his producer wife was expecting their second child via a vague tweet in July.
"Yo. Susan. Me. Baby. Girl. November. Scorpio?" he wrote on the microblogging site.
He then took to his Facebook page to confirm the news. "Um. I don't know if it's a 'man's world,' but I'm certain women run it. Susan and I are therefore delighted to announce we are expecting a baby. Girl. November. rdj," he wrote.
Downey was married to Falconer from 1992 to 2004. In August 2005, he tied the knot with Susan in a Jewish ceremony in Amagansett, New York, People reported.
In 2010, the "Judge" actor credited his wife for helping him kick his past drug addictions.
"The old saying is true - behind every good man there's an incredible woman," he told Ireland's Evening Herald. "I owe a huge amount - if not all - of my success to Susan. We make a great team, and all that luck I spoke about, that's Susan."
