Nick Cannon is too busy to date.
The 34-year-old actor-rapper revealed that there are a lot of people who are after him right now, but dating is not one of his priorities at the moment.
"I'm good, man. I'm great. There are a lot of people after me right now," he told People while playing DJ at a party at 1 OAK in Las Vegas Tuesday night, Nov. 4, after he was asked about her dating life following her split from Mariah Carey.
"[But] I gotta slow it down. I'm trying to slow it down and stay focused. Family is the first thing and my kids are most important," he explained.
Speaking of his children, the "America's Got Talent" host is aware that his 3-year-old twins Monroe and Moroccan are still too young to understand that he and their mom are going through a divorce.
"They just love mommy and daddy so there is nothing different for them," he told Wonderwall.
When asked by People who his perfect woman is, the "School Dance" director replied, "I couldn't even tell you right now. That's a tough one. I haven't thought about that one. I'm just taking it one day at a time."
"Obviously the dating thing will come down the line, but right now I'm just slowing down," he reiterated.
While Cannon is not surprised by rumors claiming that he is already dating someone after breaking up with the 44-year-old "Always Be My Baby" hitmaker, the rapper admitted that he gets saddened when the media brings in innocent people who have nothing to do with the current situation he has been going through.
"You know what, honestly I'm in such a space right now I'm just trying to be as respectable, as classy, and the best human I could possibly be - but it's funny cause of course people are gonna say things," Cannon told Hollywood Life on Oct. 23, at his event, A Tribute to Nick Cannon, which benefits St. Mary's Healthcare System. "I'm pretty sure there's people here tonight they're gonna say 'oh this person showed up.'"
"They're gonna say what they're gonna say, but as long as you walk in truth it'll eventually come out and they'll see what it is," added Cannon
"If everyone's excited about my dating life or lack thereof, that stuff is gonna pass there's no harm to me," he continued. "I do get saddened by the situation when they bring in innocent people that have nothing to do with the situation and they start to bully them and the media might beat them up, because I can't control that - but they can take shots with me all they want. Especially when people have nothing to do with the situation and get targeted."
