Fendi presented a collection with an extravagant usage of real fur at Milan Fashion Week.
Leather dresses, pleated skirts, voluminous coats and puffy shoulders were coupled with a color palette leaning toward blonde, navy and ash grey. Accessories included thick belts and leather and furry handbags.
Braided hair and painted eyes completed the tribal feel.
The collection with heavy usage of Antelope, Goat, Mink and Crocodile furs is surely to stir in animal rights activists and groups like The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA).
"Today there are countless luxurious and humane alternatives to real fur, which is why truly creative and talented designers, including Vivienne Westwood, Stella McCartney, Marc Bouwer, Ralph Lauren, and Calvin Klein, all refuse to use fur in their collections," a spokesperson for PETA explained.
"Even Karl Lagerfeld used faux fur in his autumn 2010 collection – proving that you can have a look that kills without killing animals."
"Fashion should be fun, and there's nothing fun about draping models in skins torn from the backs of animals who may have been alive and able to experience every agonising second of it."
