Halle Berry is reportedly trying to cut child support to her ex-boyfriend Gabriel Aubry, whom she shares 6-year-old daughter Nahla.
The 48-year-old actress, best known for her portrayal of mutant Storm in "X-Men" film series, seeks to reduce her monthly payments from about $16,000 to $3,800, TMZ reported.
But Canadian model Aubry, 39, is fighting the "Extant" star's attempt to slash his child support, claiming that he needs the money because he was unable to book modeling jobs after he had a fight with Berry's current husband Olivier Martinez on Thanksgiving 2012.
Aubry claims that it took him half a year to recover from the brawl before he could work again, and since then he has only booked three gigs. But the entertainment gossip site reported that there was barely a sign of injury on his face six weeks after the infamous scuffle.
According to the court documents obtained by TMZ, Berry alleges that Aubry only uses the child support for his own needs, which include the following:
$740 a month for Gabriel's "Fitness"
$940 a month in clothing (Gabriel lists Nahla's clothing expenses separately -- $675 a month)
$700 a month for Gabriel's health insurance
$1,975 a month in car expenses
$1,100 a month in furniture and electronics
"She does feel that he is abusing the system and taking advantage of her," a source close to Martinez told People of Berry. "Halle does work hard for her money, and it's not easy for her to juggle the two kids with her work schedule. It's understandable that she feels Gabriel should be able to make enough money to support Nahla."
Berry began dating Aubry in November 2005 after meeting each other at a Versace photoshoot. In 2008, Berry gave birth to Nahla, and three years after that the two announced their separation.
The Oscar-winning actress started dating French actor Martinez in 2010 after they met while filming "Dark Tide" in South Africa. They confirmed their engagement in March 2012, and tied the knot in France on in July 2013, according to Us Weekly. They share a son named Maceo, born last year.
