Avril Lavigne and Chad Kroeger's relationship is still on the rocks, but a baby could possibly save their crumbling marriage, according to a new report.
"Things still aren't good," a source dished to E! News about the couple's relationship. "But Avril's friends are encouraging her to try and work it out. They don't like Chad, but she's already been through one painful divorce and they don't want to see her going through another unless there's no other option. Also, she and Chad haven't been married that long so her friends want her to make sure she's given it every chance before pulling the plug."
The source said that one of the things that could probably prevent the two recording artists from breaking up is a baby of their own.
"Motherhood is something she really wants for herself," the tipster explained. "So this thing with Chad, it's going to go one of two ways. Either they're going to get rid of each other or there's a shot they might try to have a baby to save the marriage."
The 30-year-old "Hello Kitty" singer and the 39-year-old Nickelback lead vocalist tied the knot in the South of France in July 2013 after being engaged for one year. Kroeger proposed to the songstress with a massive 14-carat ring, after a month of dating, according to New York Post.
But rumors that the couple has been dealing with some relationship problems began to surface in September.
"It's over," a tipster told Us Weekly that month. "He has been going around L.A. telling people that they are divorcing."
"Chad is just a complete jerk in the way he talks to her, and the way he talks to people in general. A lot of her friends don't like him," a source told Us Weekly, as quoted by Hollywood Life.
The musicians have reportedly been "fighting a lot" and that "they're having a lot of issues," according to E! News. A source close to the couple told the entertainment news site that, "there's jealousy on both sides. She flirts, he flirts. She's very insecure to begin with."
Lavigne and Kroeger apparently unfollowed each other on social media as well, EntertainmentWise noted.
