ABC's "Manhattan Love Story" is technically the first TV show to get canceled this fall since NBC's "Mission Control" and Fox's "Hieroglyph" that were both canceled even before they aired, E! News has learned.
After ordering more episodes for seven of its new and returning series, ABC decided to axe the romance comedy starring "America's Next Top Model" alum Analeigh Tipton and Jake McDorman because of the show's low rating, reports The Hollywood Reporter.
In its debut, "Manhattan Love Story" had 4.7 million viewers only and by its fourth outing, it even dropped to 2.7 million viewers with a 0.7 demo rating.
It appears that Tipton and McDorman's confession that they are dating in real life did not help boost the rating of the new series.
Though her first major role in a TV series didn't work out for her, Tipton is still getting the upperhand in her career as she is to be honored at the Savannah Film Festival - the most star-studded film festival in Georgia, according to Reel Georgia.
Along with "Hugo," "The Boy in the Striped Pajamas" and "Ender's Game" star Asa Butterfield, the "ANTM Cycle 11" third placer - also known for her roles in "Crazy Stupid Love" and "Two Night Stand" - will be receiving a Rising Star Award.
Meanwhile, joining "Grey's Anatomy" in the line-up of shows ABC ordered more episodes for are "Once Upon A Time," "Modern Family," "The Middle," "The Goldbergs," "Resurrection" and "black-ish," which is the network's highest-rated new comedy.
ABC picked up its breakout hit drama "How To Get Away With Murder" starring Viola Davis for a full season while "Selfie" is still in the limbo of either getting cancelled or ordered to produce more episodes.
"Selfie" is a new sitcom, featuring a story of revamping an image destroyed on the Internet. It stars Karen Gillan and John Cho, along with Da'Vine Joy Randolph, David Harewood, Brian Huskey and Matthew Cardarople, among others.
