Academy Award winning actress Halle Barry announced Thursday that she will be launching French luxury lingerie collection "Scandale" at select Target stores and Target.com on Oct. 27, Ace Showbiz reported.
Berry revealed that she became interested in business following her trip to Paris with husband and Frenchman Olivier Martinez. She said that she spent a lot of time walking around in Paris when she came across a brand displayed in one of her favorite stores.
Berry discovered "Scandale," which was founded by Robert Perrier, a textiles designer who worked at a small factory in France in 1932, according to the Daily Mail. The "X-Men" star reportedly researched the company and its history before deciding to revive the label.
"I decided for my own evolution as a woman and entrepreneur, it's time for me to step out and really be part owner of something that I believed in," the actress said.
Berry, who now owns 50 percent of the company, decided to relaunch it with a ten-piece collection sold at lower prices. The collection will be available at Target and Target.com with panties sold for $7 and bras sold from $16 to $18.
The collection consists of bras and panties in classic silhouettes, black diamond mesh, crimson, black and nude lace and the occasional print, according to Vogue.
"I have some friends of mine who wear the same 'janky' bras for five years straight," Berry said. "But what I learned about the French woman is that she is always updating her lingerie."
Berry stated that with this she hopes that women do not get caught in emergencies looking unprepared and that if clothes come off "they are going to be fabulous under there."
According to the company's website, a salesman introduced Perrier to a new type of fabric which he then used in making a girdle more delicate and lighter than most corsets. His assistant was so shocked at his creation that she exclaimed "C'est un scandale!"
