Last month, Ryan Gosling welcomed his first child, Esmeralda Amada, with his girlfriend Eva Mendes, and now his "The Notebook" co-star James Marsden offered him some pieces of advice about parenting.
"Make it through the first year! You'll get your sleep eventually," the 41-year-old actor-singer and former Versace model told Yahoo! Celebrity UK & Ireland Thursday, Oct. 16, while promoting his latest Nicholas Sparks film, "The Best of Me." "You go through those sleep-deprived months where you don't know who you are or where you are, or what's happening."
"But just enjoy every second of it I guess," added Marsden, who plays Scott Summers aka Cyclops in the "X-Men" film series.
"He's a good man," he said of the 33-year-old new dad."He's very intelligent and he seems very in tune with his young self."
During his interview with Yahoo, Marsden also mentioned that Gosling could also use his musicality to bond with her baby girl.
"He has a band," Marsden said, referring to the indie rock band Dead Man's Bones that the "Drive" star and Zach Shields formed. "And he sings with a children's choir. He's a very talented musician and a very gifted guitar player and vocalist. He doesn't parade it around a lot. He has an album out and he's surrounded by this kid's choir, so I guess my mind went to that when I think how great he's going to be as a father."
Marsden married actress Mary Elizabeth "Lisa" Linde, daughter of country music songwriter Dennis Linde, in July 2000. But Linde filed for divorce in September 2011. They share two children, son Jack Holden and daughter Mary James, according to People.
Marsden is also a father to William Luca Costa-Marsden, whom he welcomed in December 2012 with former girlfriend Rose Costa.
Gosling started dating Mendes, 40, in September 2011. The two, who both starred in the 2013 crime drama film "The Place Beyond the Pines," welcomed their daughter on September 12, Us Weekly reported.
