Gillian Anderson wants to be part of the cast of the female-led "Ghostbuster" reboot.

During a Reddit AMA Sunday, Oct. 12, promoting her new novel "A Vision of Fire" co-written with Jeff Rovin, the 46-year-old actress was asked whether she has any interest in joining the new "Ghostbusters" reboot.

Anderson did not seem familiar with the Paul Feig-directed project, but when she learned that it was going to be an all-female cast, she immediately showed her interest in any role.

"OH MY GOD, I just looked it up online," she wrote. "Paul Feig, cast me now! Start a Twitter petition! I'm free!!!!! I'm free I'm free and I'm funny goddamnit!"

When one user offered help to mobilize interest in the petition, the Golden Globe-winning actress replied: "MAKE IT HAPPEN!!"

Feig took to Twitter, on Oct. 8, to announce that he is directing the reboot from a script he will co-write with Katie Dippold.

The film was initially intended to be "Ghostbusters 3" with the intent to bring back the original cast (Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray and Harold Ramis), but script setbacks, Ramis' death and Ivan Reitman's exit from the project as director eventually turned the sequel into a complete reboot, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

There are currently no actresses attached to star in the film, but Murray - who is not involved in the project - was generous in sharing his personal casting choices. Murray told Toronto Sun at the Toronto International Film Festival last month while promoting his new comedy-drama movie "St. Vincent" that he thinks Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Linda Cardellini and Emma Stone will do well in the project.

Anderson, who achieved international recognition for her role as Special Agent Dana Scully on the sci-fi series "The X-Files," was also asked if there had been "any progress" on the long-hinted third "The X-Files" film.

"Uh....uh... uh...," Anderson wrote. "Sorta kinda. Keep your ears to the ground."

Last fall, Anderson and her co-star David Duchovny (Fox Mulder) told fans that they wish to reprise their roles in another movie during a Paley Center event celebrating the show's 20th anniversary, E! News reported.

"All the principals are on board," Duchovny said at the time. "Gillian and I want to do it, so it's really up to 20th Century Fox at this point."
