Paula Patton has filed for divorce from estranged husband Robin Thicke Tuesday, Oct. 7, in a Los Angeles court.

The 38-year-old actress cited irreconcilable differences and was seeking joint legal and physical custody of their 4-year-old son Julian.

Sources told TMZ that the divorce is "harmonious" with no significant issues to settle.

The 37-year-old "Blurred Lines" hitmaker met Patton when she was 16 at an under-21 dance club on the Sunset Strip in Los Angeles, according to Daily Mail. The two then started dating in 1993 and tied the knot in 2005.

But in February this year, the two announced their separation in a joint statement, confirming rumors of their split. "We will always love each other and be best friends; however, we have mutually decided to separate at this time," the pair said.

Following their separation, Thicke attempted to win Patton back by dedicating his 2006 song "Lost Without U" to her at his concerts.  In June, he even released an entire studio album titled "Paula," which was a tribute to his estranged wife. The album only sold 24,000 copies in the US and only 530 copies in the UK in its first week of release, Billboard reported.

But during an appearance on "Good Morning America" in July, Thicke admitted that he was kinda winging it.

"I actually have no idea what I'm doing," the singer said of trying to save his marriage to Patton. "I'm just kinda flying by the seat of my pants on this one."

The estranged couple's marriage was reportedly torn apart due to the singer's alleged cheating and admitted drug use after his single "Blurred Lines" became a huge success, EntertainmentWise reported.

When asked during an April copyright lawsuit deposition whether he considers himself an "honest person," Thicke said, "No. That's why I'm separated," according to CBS News.

He was then asked if he is selective about when to tell the truth.

"Absolutely not," he replied. "I told my wife the truth. That's why she left me."
