Game developer BioWare confirmed that it has delayed the announcement for the 3.0 content update for "Star Wars: The Old Republic," Joystiq reported.
Originally, the studio was supposed to make the announcement in September. Gamers anticipated that the announcement will contain gameplay details regarding the expansion.
However, as the month passed, fans didn't hear anything from the company about the update.
Eric Musco, the company's community manager for the "Star Wars: The Old Republic" forum addressed the issue and said the announcement has been delayed.
According to Musco, the delay was caused by problems regarding various aspects regarding the announcement.
"The process we go through internally to announce something as big as an expansion is actually quite complex and extensive," Musco wrote in response to a gamer's question about the expansion.
"Although you are correct in that the end process may be a video, a landing page with some cope, etc., the process to get there requires a large amount of moving parts across multiple teams," he added.
"Aside from just the assets and webpages there is arguably one of the most important aspects of these types of announcement, the game," he continued.
Musco noted that the company is making sure that all of the aspects of the update's announcement have been ironed out before unveiling them to the public, according to iDigital Times.
"By the time we announce we have to have a concrete idea of what will be coming in the game with the expansion, what types of perks we might give our subscribers, etc.," he stated. "Unfortunately with so many moving parts, we can sometimes run into the scenario like we did today."
"If we are not 100% confident in what we are going to put out, for a multitude of possible reasons, it can lead to a delay of announcement," Musco added.
Despite the delay, the community manager reassured gamers that BioWare is still moving forward with the scheduled release of the content update. Although no exact dates were given, Musco said it will launch within the year, IGN reported.
"The delay of announcement has no effect on the expansion schedule, and we are still sticking to our commitment of launching it this year," he wrote.
