"The Walking Dead" companion series will reportedly have six main characters, three of those are adults and three are teenagers.
Below is an unofficial list of principal characters from the series with a brief description of each of them obtained by TVLine.
SEAN CABRERA | A Latino male in his early 40s, Sean is a good man trying to do right by everyone in his life.
CODY CABRERA | Sean's whip-smart and rebellious teenage son. Known as the angriest kid in town.
NANCY TOMPKINS | A thirtysomething single mom to two kids, Nancy looks like the girl next door, but there's an edge to her.
NICK TOMPKINS | Nancy's screwed up teenage son. He's too old to stay home, too scared to flee.
ASHLEY TOMPKINS | Nancy's mostly level-headed teenage daughter. Her ambition is in direct proportion to her older brother's failures. She loves her mom but it's time to get out of Dodge.
ANDREA CHAPMAN | A somewhat wilted flower child, fortysomething Andrea - yep, another Andrea! - has retreated to the outskirts of the city to recover after a horrible marriage.
Apparently, there are two families making up the group of main characters, plus Andrea, who seems to be unrelated to either the Cabrera or Tompkins family.
As early as October last year, Robert Kirkman, who is exec producing the show along with Gale Anne Hurd and David Alpert, said that the companion series will not be set in Georgia.
"[It will be set in a] really different location with completely different people, so we are going to see an entirely different corner of the 'Walking Dead 'world. It definitely won't be set in Georgia, I can at least say that. It's important to us that this show exists on its own," Kirkman previously told IGN.
Though there is no word yet as to where and when the companion series will be set, rumor has it that it will be set in Kansas in the early days of the zombie apocalypse.
In TVLine's character list, the phrase "get out of Dodge" was used, and while it means to leave someplace immediately, the fact that the word "Dodge" is capitalized appears to suggest that the show will be set in Dodge City, Kansas, according to Zap2It.
In addition, there are speculations that the companion series, whose pilot script was penned by Kirkman and showrunner Dave Erickson, will be more like of prequel to the parent show, as it will be set in the early days of the zombie apocalypse, when the living still outnumbers the undead, according to TVLine.
On Sept. 5, AMC announced that it ordered a pilot episode of the companion series, which is scheduled for production late this year, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
