Madonna took stage at the NFL Super Bowl XLVI Halftime Show Sunday night - wishfully declaring her glorious return.

The 53-year old was singing - or rather miming - and dancing through five of her hit songs; Vogue, Music, Open Your Heart, Express Yourself and LIke A Prayer.

The veteran pop singer was dressed in Givenchy couture, a headpiece made by Philip Treacy, and Bulgari jewelry. In front of estimated 110 million viewers, Madonna's self-centric halftime spectacle featured herself as queen, cheerleader, warrior and high-priestess - in rarely 15 minutes.

Niki Minaj and MIA joined Madonna's cheerleading in chanting "L-U-V Madonna," promoting her new single Give Me All Your Luvin, released ahead of Madonna's new album "MDNA."

The last song Like A Prayer was joined by Cee Lo Green's real voice, and sent a rather puzzling message, with Madonna disappearing in a blast of smoke while the words "WORLD PEACE" appeared across the Super Bowl field. Indeed, "a near messianic message in keeping with her over-the-top performance," as Neil McCormick of Telegraph puts it.

After all, it seems the halftime extravaganza was nothing more than Madonna's self-glorification and a lavish advertisement for "MDNA," and the world of peace Madonna envisions is a rather diminishing one, serving her own glory. When will the 53-year old realize and admit her soon-to-come demise.
