State Farm insurance company has officially pulled out its Discount Double Check commercial entitled "Richmeister" starring Rob Schneider.
The actor, who has been very vocal of his stand against vaccination, was slammed by health groups who think otherwise.
State Farm released the ads last month with the "Deuce Bigalow" actor reprising his classic "Richmeister" routine.
However, several health groups took note of the misalignment between Schneider's personal stand on vaccination and that of the company's, according to Mercury News.
Just last week, an anti-Schneider video surfaced online and was published by TMZ. The same video lobbied to have the ad of Schneider removed, saying, "State Farm provides health insurance, and nothing ensures public health more than getting vaccinated."
The anti-Schneider video noted, "Amusing advertisement, except for one thing: Rob Schneider is a vocal opponent against vaccinations, claiming they kill and cause permanent injuries. Diseases that were once all but eradicated are starting to reappear at alarming rates, thanks to a single, fraudulent, debunked study. It's time to make a stand. Let State Farm know that you don't agree with endangering public health."
Following the video, State Farm has officially pulled out Schneider's ad. The company's director of public affairs, Phil Supple, said in a statement, "State Farm advertising is intended to inform and entertain. This particular ad has unintentionally been used as a platform for discussion unrelated to the products and services we provide. With that, we are working to remove the ad from our rotation at this time."
Meanwhile, following the pull out of the said advertisement, Schneider tweeted, "If the Freedom of Speech is taken away then dumb and silent we may be led, like sheep to the slaughter - George Washington."
In another tweet, Schneider posted a link to an article from March 2013 entitled "No Laughing Matter: Rob Schneider on Mandatory Vaccinations."
Schneider also thanked his supporters via Twitter and said, "Thanks to all my supporters who believe as I do that parents should decide what's in the best interests of their child, not Gov't."
