As part of its attempt to entice customers, electronics retail giant Best Buy has teamed up with prominent designers from the fashion industry, according to Recode.
Best Buy has enlisted the help of Nanette Lepore, Anna Sui and Isaac Mizrahi from the Council of Fashion Designers of America, to design exclusive accessories for various devices.
These fashion-inspired products will be available in stores starting on Oct. 5 and will be priced between $29.99 to $39.99.
The designs for the laptop, smartphone and tablet cases will come from the three designers' collections.
Sui's collection will focus on playful patterns while Mizhari's designs will incorporate florals and polka dots. For Lepore's accessories, they will feature "hand embroidery, gorgeous sequins, intricate lace details and bold prints," NY Post reported.
According to Mary Ortizcazarin, Best Buy's vice president of accessories, the partnership was formulated after learning that their female customers want their gadgets to reflect their trendy lifestyle.
"The consumers were telling us that they wanted to personalize their device and bring a little more fashion and trend into their everyday life," she said.
"We believe that by bringing in products like this, we'll bring more customers into our store," Ortizcazarin added.
The partnership is part of Best Buy's strategy to boost its sales. In the previous months, the company experienced a decline in domestic revenues due to the increasing number of online competitors, according to Media Post.
"Industry-wide sales are continuing to decline in many of the consumer electronics categories in which we compete," an executive from Best Buy said regarding the recent quarterly sales results.
"We are also seeing ongoing softness in the mobile phone category ahead of highly anticipated trends and with limited visibility to new product launch quantities, we continue to expect comparable sales to decline in the low-single digits in both the third and fourth quantities," the company executive added.
