Megan Hilty is now a mom!
The 33-year-old actress, who is best known for her role as Ivy Lynn on the musical-drama TV series "Smash," gave birth to a baby girl Thursday, Sept. 18 in New York City. She and musician husband Brian Gallagher named their first child Viola Philomena.
The couple, who announced their pregnancy in March, told People over the summer that they were down to three name choices.
"My mother knits Christmas stockings every year for the new member of the family," Gallagher shared at the time. "She put in one request: She said, 'Listen, I have arthritis, so the fewer letters, the better for me. If you can do five letters or less, I'd really appreciate it.'"
Hilty also told E! News back in June that she was keeping away from the quirky Hollywood naming trend. "There are no fruits or animals or food in general for her name," she said.
Hilty, who rose to prominence for her roles in several Broadway musicals including her performance as Glinda in "Wicked" and her portrayal of Doralee Rhodes in "9 to 5: The Musical," admitted in a June interview with Us Weekly that she was craving for every food that was off limits.
"I want everything I can't have: Sushi, tuna fish. I was never a sweets person, and now I have to have at least one cookie every day. Lots more sweets than I'm used to," Hilty said. "I make my husband's coffee in the morning, just so I can stick my face in and smell it before I give it to him, because I gave it up."
"I know you can have stuff in moderation, but I'm leaving it all behind," she added. "I really want the whole bottle of wine. Like, what's one glass good for?!"
The couple celebrated their baby's future arrival on the weekend of Aug. 9 in New York City surrounded by friends and family, Hollywood Life reported.
The couple tied the knot in a Las Vegas ceremony in November 2013.
