Doctor Gwen Korovin recently denied taking a selfie with Joan Rivers while the "Fashion Police" host was inside the operating room and under anesthesia.
Korovin also denied performing a biopsy on Rivers' vocal cords as previously reported by various publications, according to TMZ.
The doctor's lawyer issued an official statement addressed to CNN and said, "Gwen S. Korovin M.D., is a highly experienced, board certified otolaryngologist. She maintains privileges at one of the city's most prestigious hospitals. She is respected and admired by her peers in the medical community and she is revered by her patients."
"As a matter of personal and professional policy, Dr Korovin does not publicly discuss her patients or their care and treatment. Further, Dr. Korovin is prohibited by state and federal confidentiality laws from discussing her care and treatment of any particular patient," the statement continued.
"For these reasons, neither Dr. Korovin nor her attorney will have any public comment on recent press reports regarding her practice. We ask that the press please respect Dr. Korovin's personal and professional policy of not discussing her patients, as well as the privacy of her patients," the statement concluded.
Korovin also happens to be the doctor of some of the biggest names in the industry including Hugh Jackman, Ariana Grande, Lady Gaga, Julie Andrews and Celine Dion, the Daily Mail reported.
Rivers passed away on September 4, eight days after she rushed to Mt. Sinai Hospital after suffering from a cardiac arrest due to an alleged throat biopsy, Aceshowbiz noted.
Multiple sources revealed that an uncertified doctor by the clinic performed the biopsy on Rivers' vocal cords. This allegedly prevented air from getting into the comedian's lungs, thus resulting to cardiac arrest and her eventual demise a few days later.
As of late, Rivers' only daughter, Melissa, is contemplating on filing a lawsuit against Dr. Korovin and the Yorkville Endoscopy clinic that allegedly allowed her to perform the procedure.
