NeNe Leakes is returning for the sixth and final season of "Glee!"
The 46-year-old "The Real Housewives of Atlanta" star will reprise her role as Coach Roz Washington in at least one episode of the Fox musical drama's last 13 installments. Leakes' episode is expected to shoot early next month, an individual with knowledge of the situation told TheWrap.
Roz was introduced in Season 3 as the coach of McKinley's synchronized swimming team, TV Guide reported.
And while she never concedes from a fight on her Bravo reality TV series, Leakes previously revealed that she have some hesitation to get into the water as a swim coach on "Glee."
"I've been really worried about the water," she told The Insider via Celebuzz in 2011. "I'm a black girl. I can't get my hair all wet! I'm sure they will find a way to get me in the water and I will just die."
Roz was later appointed as the coach of the Cheerios when Sue (Jane Lynch) was fired, creating tension between the two strong female characters. She last appeared in Season 5, where she helped the cheerleading squad take first place at Nationals, and newly-crowned Principal Sue subsequently allowed her to keep her job.
In an interview with Digital Spy in 2012, Leakes opened up how the cast of the Golden Globe-winning show welcomed her with open arms.
"Being on Glee was amazing," she said at the time. "I remember my first day on set, my first day I arrived to the set I was in my trailer and all of the actors came and banged on my door - Lea Michele, Chris Colfer, Amber Riley, Naya Rivera. They all welcomed me with open arms, so it was a great experience. It felt like family, and I miss them a lot over there."
"I absolutely would love to go back over to 'Glee,'" she said at the time, adding that she felt like she was in debt with series' co-creator Ryan Murphy for giving her the role of Roz.
"I feel loyal to him, so whatever it is he tells me to do, that's what I do," she said of Murphy. "He is super smart and he has a great eye for talent, so I respect that and I do whatever he says."
"Glee" Season 6 is slated to air in 2015.
