"When I Was Your Man" hit maker Peter Hernandez famously known as Bruno Mars was one of the inspirations of Lee Brice's new album "I Don't Dance."
In particular, Brice said Bruno Mars' 2012 album "Unorthodox Jukebox" revealed inspired his third studio album, which was released on Sept. 9, Tuesday.
"He took classic sounds and mixed them in with new, hip, innovative stuff and I wanted to do that," the 35-year-old country music singer told Radio of Mars.
As a "country man," Brice said he loves "an old-school steel guitar" and all kinds of music, including R&B, rock, blues and bluegrass.
"But I also hear some stuff in my head that's not quite so classic country. So I wanted to be able to melt all that together," he added.
While he had "a lot of songs already planned" for the new album, Brice said, "I didn't know exactly what the whole feeling was going to be until I wrote 'I Don't Dance.' I felt like it said, 'This is who I am right now for this album space.'"
While Brice has recently released his third album, Bruno Mars has recently announced he will work on his third album after "The Moonshine Jungle Tour."
On Sept. 20, Bruno Mars is set to perform at the Muhammad Ali Center for Congo 14, which will be opened by the Southern Sirens band comprised of "American Idol" alum Emmy Bodner, violinist Anna Blanton and percussionist Kelsey Lee, Louisville reported.
Meanwhile, Bruno Mars' father Pete Hernandez is one of inductees into the Doo-Wop Hall of Fame of America, which honors the music and legacy of great performers, according to its founder Harvey Robbins.
On Oct. 12, Hernandez will be honored at the North Shore Music Theatre in Beverly along with the Clovers, the Persuasions, the Shades of Blue and the original members of the Duprees among others, Boston Globe reported.
"Of course, my son has reached levels I never attained. But I first brought him into my show when he was two and a half, and from that time until he was 17, he was surrounded by doo-wop singers. He absorbed so much of that," Hernandez said of his son Bruno Mars.
