Irish folk singer and songwriter Damien Rice is set to release his third album titled "My Favorite Faded Fantasy" in November, The Guardian reports.
The album will be his first LP in eight years and recorded with acclaimed American producer Rick Rubin, who most recently worked with Lana Del Rey, Ed Sheeran and Kanye West.
The singer recorded the LP in Los Angeles and in Reykjavik, Iceland, according to NME. In the years prior to the recording, he only sporadically worked in the music scene.
"Sometimes you have to step away from what you love in order to learn how to love it again," Rice said in a press release.
As for his choice of whom to work with on the album, he attributes it to a desire for a feeling of unfamiliarity, saying he picked Rubin because he knew little about the producer.
"For some reason, I just had a feeling that I would feel comfortable being open and being me and being vulnerable with Rick," said Rice.
The LP has 10 tracks and features songs Rice has played at shows this year, including "The Box" and "The Greatest Bastard."
George Ergatoudis, head of music for BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra, has praised "The Greatest Bastard," saying on Twitter, "It's not every day that I hear a new song that totally floors me."
"Just wait till u hear The Greatest Bastard," he tweeted on September 4.
The title track on "My Favorite Faded Fantasy" debuted on Monday on radio presenter Zane Lowe's show on BBC Radio 1. The song is now also available as part of iTunes' album pre-order.
Another song, "I Don't Want to Change You," will start selling at the end of September.
Rice's 2006 album "9" went platinum in the United Kingdom but he wasn't particularly happy with it. "I would take half of the songs off," he said in an interview in 2010.
The singer's debut, "O," was released in 2002.
