Social networking site Twitter has announced that it will soon unveil its "Buy" button for users, IT Pro Portal reported.
This latest feature will allow user to purchase directly from Tweets. For now, the "Buy" button will be made available for a small number of users in the U.S. Particularly, it will only be available to those using Twitter through their Android and iOS mobile apps.
The social networking site reassured users that this new service will be available to a wider consumer baser in the near future, according to Tech Crunch.
Basically, the service enables users to purchase merchandise from Tweets. Once they see something they like, they can click on the "Buy" button. They will then be redirected to a page where they'll be asked to input their shipping and payment details to complete their order.
For future purchases, users don't have to enter their details again because they will be saved as part of their Twitter accounts.
Tarun Jain, Twitter's group product manager, reassured users that their details are securely stored and they have the option to delete them from their accounts.
"We built this test experience with your trust and security at the forefront," he wrote on the Twitter blog. "Your payment and shipping information is encrypted and safely stored after your first transaction, so you can easily buy on Twitter in the future without having to re-enter all of your information."
"Of course, you can always remove this information from your account," he added. Your credit card is processed securely and won't be shared with the seller without your permission."
For the "Buy" feature, Twitter has partnered with various entertainment and online companies such as Fancy (@fancy), Stripe (@stripe), Musictoday (@musictoday) and Gumroad (@gumroad), Wired reported.
In the next couple of weeks, users can purchase items from artists and merchandisers such as Eminem (@eminem), The Home Depot (@HomeDepot), Soundgarden (@soundgarden) and Megadeth (@Megadeth).
Through Twitter's latest feature and its partner companies and artists, users can soon buy concert tickets, tour shirts and other promotional items by simply clicking a button.
