Apple announced Thursday it will be live-streaming its upcoming big event on September 9, reports Tech Crunch.
Previous Apple events have seen the Cupertino company provide live video feeds of the proceedings, in conjunction with select invites for press and tech people, especially when important product launches are to be made.
However, Apple has always required a particular multimedia setup for those wanting to get in on the action, which means only those with an iPhone, an iPad, a Mac, or an Apple TV will be able to watch the live streams.
With this setup, CNET has posted a quick article teaching first-time users how to tune in:
"You can view the event on second- and third-generation Apple TV devices running software version 5.0.2 or later. This can be done by clicking on the "Apple Events" channel on the device's main menu."
"The event can also be viewed from an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch running iOS 6 or later using the Safari mobile Web browser (and going to this address: https://www.apple.com/live/). Mac and MacBook users on OS X 10.6.8 or later can tune in (by going to the same address) using Safari version 5.1.10 or later."
The September 9 event is expected to be the day when Apple officially announces the new iPhone 6 with its two versions - the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 and the 5.5-inch iPhone 6L, according to IB Times. News about an upcoming wearable device, nicknamed the "iWatch", is also expected.
Apple's big event will be held at the Flint Center for the Performing Arts in Cupertino, California. This was where Steve Jobs also made his introduction for the very first Macintosh computer 30 years ago, notes Brian Chen of the NY Times, who observed that "when Apple wants to make a big splash, it returns to its history."
The upcoming devices from Apple are anticipated to carry a full load of new features that can take advantage of recent developments in health and fitness monitoring apps, home sensors, and even a wireless payment system.
