With the looming rumored Sept. 9 release of the iPhone 6, several reports have speculated as to what users can expect for Apple's latest device, Emirates 247 reported.
Probably the most significant change the iPhone 6 could sport is its size. Apple is reportedly planning on unveiling versions with 4.7 and 5.5-inch display screens. Aside from the larger screen size, the iPhone 6 will also be slimmer at only 6.9 millimeters thick as compared to the previous model's depth of 7.6mm.
For the iPhone 6's larger screens, Apple might consider replacing its glass displays, according to Time. Apple, like other electronics companies, has faced numerous complaints from users regarding how fragile the screen displays of their smartphones are.
Instead of using traditional glass, Apple may use sapphire, a harder but more expensive material for the iPhone 6.
This would not be the first time the company will use the material for its smartphones. For the iPhone 5, the company has used sapphire to protect the lens of its camera as well as for the fingerprint scanner of its 5s model.
In terms of functionality, the iPhone 6 could be used as a mobile wallet, 9to5mac has learned. Apple has reportedly engaged in negotiations with banking institutions and credit card companies such as Visa.
If the deal pushes through, owners of the new iPhone can use their devices to pay for goods and services by simply swiping their smartphones at cashier counters.
Finally, as pointed out by other tech sites, the iPhone 6 could carry Apple's new operating system, the iOS 8. The most notable feature of the iPhone 6's OS is its biometric service, ZDNET reported.
Through Apple's HealthKit app, users can keep track of their fitness and health information. Some of these include monitoring one's blood pressure, heart rate, calories burned and blood sugar levels.
