Chris Brown has reportedly reached out to Suge Knight after the latter was released from Cedars-Sinai Medical Center Wednesday, Aug. 27, following a shooting incident that took place during a pre-VMA party that the "Loyal" singer hosted.

The 25-year-old R&B singer is said to have offered his support to the 49-year-old co-founder and former CEO of Death Row Records, who is now recovering after he was shot six times at 1Oak on West Hollywood's Sunset Boulevard Sunday, Aug. 24.

"Out of respect, [Chris reached out to Suge] and told him that if there was anything he needed, to ask him," a source close to Brown told Hollywood Life."Chris genuinely wanted to know how he was doing and if he needed anything and if he's good. He would have done that for anyone in that situation."

"He's all about peace and love and that night just happened to have some people in there who didn't have the same energy and led to what happened.  But all is good and this is the last time he's mentioning anything about it," the source added.

There has been speculation that Brown was the real target in the shooting, but a representative for Brown told Rolling Stone that the party was to celebrate the upcoming release of his album "X."

"Chris hosted an event in Los Angeles last night to celebrate the upcoming release of his album X, during which an incident occurred," a rep for the singer told the music magazine. "This incident did not involve Chris; he was merely the host of the event. He has and will continue to cooperate with the investigation."

Rapper-comedian Katt Williams, who was with Knight during the shooting, told TMZ that the music mogul stepped into harm's way to protect someone else.

But Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Lt. John Corina told New York Daily News that they "have no doubt Knight was the target," and not Brown or anyone else.

Investigators were still reviewing hours of surveillance video from multiple cameras inside 1Oak, added Corina.

In addition, the sheriff's department confirmed to Billboard that the case has been moved to its Homicide Bureau, meaning the incident is likely being investigated as an attempted murder.
