Ariana Grande and Big Sean may have just confirmed the real status of their relationship at Sunday night's MTV Video Music Awards.

The rumored couple was spotted holding hands a few minutes after Grande finished her performance of "Bang Bang," alongside Jessie J and Nicki Minaj, according to US Weekly.

A video clip of the two holding hands was flashed briefly on the huge LED screens at the event venue, stirring even more controversy that the two, indeed, are actually seeing each other, the Daily Mail reported.

This is the first time that the two packed on the PDA despite already being rumored ever since they collaborated on the song "Best Mistake," the same publication noted.

The two also worked together on Grande's summer hit song "Problem" featuring Iggy Azalea, where the rapper helped the two as a backup vocalist.

Of course, as with most relationships, Grande and Big Sean started off as friends. An insider previously dished to E! News, "They have been friends since they made the song together. They have been spending more time together and recently have been getting very close. They are both doing great."

The "My Everything" songstress also once spoke about Big Sean during an interview with Ryan Seacrest last month.

"I did another song with one my best friend, Big Sean, and it's called Best Mistake, and it's one of my favorites in the album.

Just last month, Grande split from her long-time boyfriend Jai Brooks after the latter wasn't there at the time Grande needed him the most.

"You learn a lot about love, life and the people around you during a time of crisis. I thank everybody who was here for me when I needed them as the ones who weren't really broke my heart," she wrote via Twitter.

Meanwhile, Big Sean also recently ended his engagement to "Glee" star Naya Rivera.
