"Guardians of the Galaxy" retook this weekend's number one spot at the Box Office, making it the third movie of the year and the highest movie earner this summer with $252 million.

The film, which stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Dave Bautista and Lee Pace has already received an estimated $251.9 million in total since it was first released four weeks ago, according to Entertain Weekly's Inside Movies.

As such, the film was confirmed to have earned way more than its biggest competitors, including, "Maleficent" with $237 million, "Transformers: Age of Extinction" with $251 million, "X-Men: Days of Future Past" with $232 million, "Godzilla" with $201 million and "Neighbors" with $150 million, the same publication revealed.

Rory Bruer, Sony's worldwide distribution president said, "It opened within our sweet spot. It was done at a very modest budget. Our campaign was very grassroots and to open to $9 million and have the uptick that we had on Saturday night with an A- Cinema Score and very, very strong exits - people really like the flim. I think it will be in theaters for many weeks to come. It's going to have a very solid multiple."

Meanwhile, "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" beat this weekend's new film, "If I Stay," after it ranked at the number two spot. The film grossed an estimated amount of $16.8 million for a domestic total of $145.6 million, the Hollywood Reporter noted.

"If I Stay," which stars teen star Chloe Grace Moretz, was expected to top this weekend's Box Office. Earned a relatively low $16.4 million.

"Sin City 2: A Dame to Kill For" didn't impress this week after it ranked at the number eight spot. The film grossed an estimated $6.5 million which came as a surprise considering the film's first installment, which was released nine years ago, earned $29 million, according to SF Gate.
