Rapper Wiz Khalifa officially announced the cancellation of his concert after a man was shot dead during his Friday night's performance at the Shoreline Amphitheater at Mountain View.
Mountain View Police Department officials arrived at the scene of the crime around 11 p.m. after they received several calls from tipsters that there were gunshots at Khalifa's "Under the Influence Tour."
Upon arriving at the crime scene, the suspect, who is still unnamed was able to escape and is still currently at large, according to Hip Hop DX.
The suspect, whose identity has not yet been revealed, was allegedly seen arguing with the suspect backstage a few minutes before the shooting took place. Around the same time, Khalifa was performing on stage, in front of approximately 22,000 concert attendees.
On Sunday, Khalifa tweeted about the incident and confirmed that his show will no longer push through for the time being.
He wrote, "Due to a situation out of control, tonight's UTIOM show is cancelled." In another tweet, Khalifa addressed the shooting incident and wrote, "This was senseless tragedy. Violence is never the answer. My prayers go out to the victim's family."
The owner of the venue, Live Nation, also released an official statement following the fatal incident, the Daily Mail reported.
"Due to an active investigation at the Shoreline Amphitheater stemming from an incident after last night's performance, tonight's show in Chula Vista, California has been cancelled and will not be rescheduled."
Concert goers who have already purchased their tickets will be given a full refund, Hip Hop DX noted.
Meanwhile, it is still unclear whether or not the rapper himself was connected to the shooter or the victim. There are no details yet as to whether or not the two men were related or knew each other personally, according to the NY Daily News.
Khalifa's representatives did not immediately respond for comment following the incident.
