It was previously revealed that former New Direction members are going back to Ohio's McKinley High for the sixth and final season of "Glee." But does that mean they will have to deal with some of their old rivals like the Dalton Academy Warblers?
Surprisingly, all signs point that the Warblers are returning to the Fox musical dramedy when it returns for its last installment next year.
On Aug. 18, Nolan Funk, who played the Warbler Hunter Clarington, tweeted a selfie with Darren Criss (who plays former Warbler, Blaine Anderson), suggesting that the all-boy glee club might be making a huge comeback next season. "#WarblerSelfie @DarrenCriss @GLEEonFOX," the 28-year-old Canadian actor captioned the photograph.
Though filming for Season 6 is not set to begin until next month, it has been suspected that the two actors met up to discuss the show's upcoming story lines, as the scripts are already in full flow, according to Unreality TV.
Hunter replaced Sebastian Smythe (Grant Gustin) as head of the Warblers after the latter was demoted. In Season 4, however, Hunter was forced to step down from his position following a drug scandal. Everyone thought that Hunter was expelled from Dalton Academy because of the scandal and an altercation with a reporter, but signs suggest otherwise, Wetpaint reported.
In addition, the show's crew has reportedly posted a filming notice outside Cravens Estate in California, which is the building being used for any Dalton Academy scenes. According to the filming notice, "Glee" rented out the property to shoot scenes on Sept. 12, 15 and 16, reportedly for the first two episodes of its last season.
Also, one of the five new major characters that will be introduced in Season 6 was a former Dalton Academy student. Jane, according to TVLine, is a "righteous, ambitious and unconventionally pretty girl, who left Dalton Academy in favor of McKinley High because "tradition kept her from joining" The Warblers.
Lastly, earlier this summer, Jane Lynch (Sue Sylvester) seemed to confirm that New Directions' rival show choirs will be a part of the last season's storyline. "I think we're going to have some surprises about who's going to be the choir director of The Warblers and who will be the choir director of Vocal Adrenaline," she told Entertainment Weekly back in June. "I think it'll be a big surprise."
"Glee" Season 6 is expected to premiere in 2015 as part of the 2014-15 television season.
