Cindy Crawford recently confirmed her decision to pull her children, Presley and Kaia, out of Malibu High School, due to elevated levels of PCB chemicals found in window caulking.

"PCB is a type of chemical that is found in the window caulking of older buildings that was outlawed by Congress in 1976," according to US Weekly.

Exposure to such chemical for long periods of time may potentially cause cancer, damage the immune and reproductive system and risk a child's brain development, the same publication revealed.

In a recent interview with "Today" anchor Maria Shriver, Crawford addressed her decision and admitted that she does not feel 100 percent safe, E! News reported.

"I'm very frustrated and I'm very disappointed at the way this has been handled. The problem is, for me, that they haven't tested the source. I think that air testing and water testing are a great piece of the puzzles," she said.

Last week, Crawford even offered to fund the PCB testing using her own money, the same publication noted.

"I look 10 years down the line. What if my kid, God forbid, had a problem? How could I live with myself if I knew that was a possibility and I still sent them to school there?" she questioned on Tuesday's pre-taped episode of "Today."

Crawford's children's school, as well as another school in Malibu, reportedly tested ten classrooms and found four with elevated levels of PCB, the NY Daily News noted.

School officials meanwhile promised to get rid of the caulking in the rooms but the supermodel said she's not convinced this will completely iron out the problem.

Meanwhile, Malibu High School stressed that their students' health and safety are their number one priority. "Using federal EPA standards, our schools are safe for students and employees."

Still, Crawford stressed that laws need to be changed ASAP.
