Justin Timberlake has just brought upon himself yet another social media fury after greeting his pal Madonna "Happy Birthday."
On Saturday, Aug. 16, the "Take Back the Night" hit maker took to Twitter to wish his friend well on her 56th birthday, Us Weekly reported.
"A HAPPIEST of Bdays to my mother chucking ninja, @Madonna," the singer wrote to the Queen of Pop. "Hope you have a great one, M!"
Apparently, many of Timberlake's followers took offense to his tweet as the word "'ninja" is commonly used as an alternate word to [for the racial slur]," according to Consequence of Sound.
The site also shared some sample of reactions from JT's followers, one of which read: "I knew Justin Timberlake was getting too close for comfort with black culture but now he is saying ninja. #nosir."
Hot Hits also posted some of the social media users' comments about Timberlake's post.
"You wanna say "nigga" so bad," one follower wrote while retweeting what the artist wrote.
"Bruh. You went too deep," another one commented, while yet another wrote "You aint f*cking slick."
Other responses also reportedly included, "I just ended my relationship w/Justin," and "Get Justin Timberlake the f--k out of here."
JT's message to his "4 Minutes" duet partner has since been deleted, but the media had managed to pick up his post even before he did some damage control.
A day later, he reportedly retweeted a message from Matt Morris about the incidents in Ferguson that read: The world is watching #Ferguson. [And we pray.]"
Meanwhile, Jessica Biel's husband is not the first celebrity to use the word "ninja" as Grantland had noted in 2012 that Katy Perry had also used the term as substitute when she covered Kanye West's "N----in Paris" when she performed at Radio 1 in the same year.
