After sustaining violent beating at the hands of her former boyfriend Jon "War Machine" Koppenhaver, 23-year-old porn star Christy Mack needs financial assistance for her hospital bills and facial reconstruction surgery which costs $100,000.
Mack tweeted photos of her injuries while still recovering in the hospital. She also took to Twitter to thank her fellow adult film actress and friend Kendall Karson for her effort to raise fund for her.
"Thank you @KendallKarsonXo for your help and starting a fundraiser for my recovery, I know this is close to home," Mack wrote.
Those who want to support Mack may go to the GiveForward page to "donate funds for any out-of-pocket expenses, time off for work, therapy, and expenses that will not be covered by insurance," Karson told Hollywood Life.
In a statement, Mack said she was with an unnamed male companion in her Las Vegas home when War Machine came unannounced on Aug. 8, Friday at 2 a.m.
"Without a single word spoken, he began beating my friend; once he was finished, he sent my friend away and turned his attention to me," Mack said.
When the knife he used to stab Mack in the "hand, ear, and head" broke, War Machine went to the kitchen to find "a sharper, more stable knife." It was then Mack found the opportunity to escape.
After running out the back door naked, Mack started pounding on neighbor's doors until somebody let her in and drove her to the hospital.
War Machine went into hiding until he was arrested in a hotel room in Simi Valley, a suburb northwest of Los Angeles where he once lived, seven days after he beat Mack.
In 2012, he was convicted for attempt to commit battery with substantial bodily harm, Newsday has learned.
Over the past five years, the 32-year-old welterweight fighter went on to fight for various promotions. A year after he made his Ultimate Fighting Championship debut, he lost his only pay-per-view bout and legally changed his name to War Machine.
Aside from being a mixed martial arts fighter, War Machine also worked in the adult film industry.
In 2014, War Machine and Mack appeared together in the January issue of "Hustler." In May, Mack claimed they broke up, according to The Daily Beast.
