Despite what seemed like an amicable break up it looks like Rita Ora and former boyfriend Calvin Harris may have had a bitter split.
The British songstress revealed that her ex-beau prevented her from performing her hit "I Will Never Let You Down" at the Teen Choice Awards.
According to E! News, during a chat with On Air With Ryan Seacrest early Tuesday, Iggy Azalea's pal explained her last minute performance cancellation.
Rita Ora said "For anybody who doesn't understand how it works, he wrote and produced the song," adding, "So he has to approve anything TV-wise for anybody who doesn't get it. And obviously he owns the rights to it and he didn't approve the Teen Choice Awards."
The blonde beauty was scheduled to take the stage at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles on Sunday but was forced to cancel her plans for both her appearance and her performance. At the time she tweeted, "Guys I am so sorry. I will make it up too you. I promise. I'm devastated. I love my fans."
When asked whether she was surprised by the sudden decision to not allow the song to be performed Rita Ora replied, "No, nuh-uh," revealing that she had been planning her TCA performance for "about a month in advance."
The "Black Widow" Artist explained, "I could have got told a few weeks earlier, you know," adding, "That would have been nice. It was a last-minute change, but you know what, it happens and we move on and move forward...
"It is what it is, man. You know, you write a song with somebody, and I guess there's some stuff that comes with it...Everything happens for a reason, that's how I look at it."
Ora previously admitted that "I Will Never Let You Down" is "basically a love song you can dance to."
She continued, "I wrote this with a really special person, and it was the first time I ever kind of opened my doors up for somebody I knew personally." She was quick to admit that the "special person" is ex-boyfriend Calvin Harris.
Over the weekend it looked like the "Summer" artist may have been throwing some shade towards his ex-girlfriend when he took to Twitter with a sad emoji face, writing, "You act so innocent now...but you lied so soon." He later also posted a meme of a dog's face with the caption, "When you start realizing s--t."
Following her radio interview he also tweeted, "You'll only know 1 side of the story RE Teen choice awards because I choose not to talk to the papers about every aspect of my personal life," adding "But just know I had a damn good reason."
