Brooke Burke Charvet was shocked to be fired from "Dancing with the Stars" after seven seasons, but the former host took the news in stride, as "it was only a TV show." She opened up about the experience to Shape magazine.
"If you can laugh during the stressful times in your life, it helps you get through them. What was I going to do? Cry?" Charvet stated.
"The one thing I learned in the ballroom was how to dance through the chaos of life gracefully,' she said. 'The way you exit is as important as the way you walk in the door."
In February, it was announced Erin Andrews would take over her gig.
"I have enjoyed seven seasons co-hosting DWTS but understand the need for change considering the position of the show at this juncture," Charvet in a statement at the time.
"I've always been one to embrace change and looking forward to pursuing opportunities I previously wasn't able to entertain because of contractual obligations to the show. I've seen my fair share of shocking eliminations in the ballroom but this one takes the cake."
Charvet now holds a recurring role on "Melissa and Joey" and is focused on her athletic line, Caelum.
"Ultimately, leaving the ballroom may be the best choice I never made," the star revealed.
This season's "Dancing with the Stars" winners include the likes of Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Meryl Davis.
"We were just saying that this show, despite the fact that it's a reality show, puts people into really real situations," the Olympic gold medalist told Us Weekly at the time.
"It's challenging and we're not just coming to the show ready to dance every Monday. You go through the daily grind and it's very challenging. You get to know people in really fun moments, and I think that's what makes the show so successful."
Davis then added, "And I also think that's why when the cameras stop rolling, I think that's why many of the relationships you form on the show keep going on long after the season's over."
