Keira Knightley appears glamorous on the red carpet, or in Chanel ads, but the "Begin Again" actress remains adamant that she is in fact "scruffy."
"I'm scruffy, and have always been scruffy. I was never into fashion when I was younger, so fashion is a world I find myself in having never meant to be here," she told Australia's Daily Telegraph.
She also revealed her favorite article of clothing is a Gap striped cardigan.
"The reason I wanted it was because it was like the cardigan I had seen Kurt Cobain wearing," Knightley explained. "So, really, my happiest state is baggy and grungy. I like it to be messy. That's my happy place."
The model added she enjoys dungarees because they make her feel younger.
We are so not surprised to hear this, given how down-to-earth she is! Knightley recently revealed she only allows herself a $50,000 a year budget.
"It's something around that, I mean, if I want or need something that goes over that, I get it, but, yes, around that," she told Glamour. "I think living an [expensive] lifestyle means you can't hang out with people who don't live that lifestyle. It alienates you. Some of my best, most hilarious times have been in the least luxurious places."
She even recycled a dress for her wedding day with James Righton!
"Every time I've worn that dress, I've had a fantastic night and if you've got a dress where you've always had a fantastic night, it's worth having another fantastic night in it," Knightley explained.
The actress did admit she had a custom-made Valentino dress for a secret second ceremony.
