With summer finally here, your favorite warm weather activities wreak havoc on hair.
The salty ocean water, chlorine and the beaming sun bleaves our hair brittle and faded, with dry and itchy scalps to boot!
Check out these 5 quick tips to bring your hair back to life:
Protect & Reconstruct. The heat can be very drying to the scalp. Incorporating a soap and alkali-free shampoo into your daily regimen can help to stabilize hair structure, as well as treat sensitive and delicate scalp conditions.
Targeted Treatment. Applying heat or using chemical products are habits that we all find hard to kick, but with the humidity at an all time high during the summer, so is hair breakage. To restore and nourish hair to its proper glory, apply a deep conditioning treatment formulated with coconut oil, as these are rich in fats that are attracted to hair proteins, 1-2 times per week. Apply at the crown of the head to the tips (hair generally isn't dry at the roots).
Add Life To Your Color. The pool feels great on hot days, but chlorine is destructive to our hair, especially if it's chemically treated, as it can strip the hair of its natural color. To restore your hair color, head to the salon for a gloss or glaze treatment every 3 to 4 months. They are less costly and will restore the tone of your original hue while adding shine.
Shield from Harmful Rays. Sun exposure not only does number on your skin, it can ravage your hair too. As you head outside, toss on a hat or scarf and opt for styling products that can withstand rays with UV protection.
Promote New Growth. Dry hair is cause of those dreadful split ends. Try trimming your hair every 6 weeks and incorporating an all-natural supplement into your routine to stimulate new growth.
