R&B singer Robert Sylvester Kelly famously known as R. Kelly was one of the celebrities who expressed their support for the victims of Malaysia Airlines Flight 17, which crashed in Ukraine, leaving 298 people dead.
According to officials from the United States, the airliner was hit by SA-11 surface-to-air missile while on its way to Kuala Lumpur from Amsterdam. Russia was accused by Ukraine of helping separatist rebels destroy evidence at the crash site, according to USA Today.
"My prayers go out to the families who lost loved ones on the #MalaysiaAirlines flight. #RIP," the 47-year-old rapper, singer-songwriter and record producer tweeted on July 17, the day when the news about the tragedy broke.
While R. Kelly is active on Twitter, he is noticeably quiet about Jay Kelly, his 14-year-old daughter who identifies as a boy and is recently bashed for being a transgender.
After his tweet about Malaysia Airlines Flight 17, R. Kelly tweeted about "Make the World Go Round," his collaboration song with DJ Cassidy.
When Jay announced about his gender, R. Kelly told WCGI, "Always believe what you see with your own eyes. Always believe what you see. That is the best way to go about this business."
The singer is yet to comment on the issue of his transgender son, who was asked to read the Bible to rectify his gender identity.
Jay (born Jaya) said, "Some say I am quite smart. And reading the bible will not change how I truly feel inside. I am going to be myself whether you tell me if it's wrong or right, because i just think it's human."
Jay has previously revealed he has identified as a boy since the age of 6 or 7 and when he began to transition, his parents put him in therapy but it did not help him.
"Hollywood Exes" star Andrea "Drea" Kelly told InTouch Weekly, "I'm so proud of him," referring to her child with ex-husband, R. Kelly.
"To have a child who's an individual, and knows what they want and are willing to tell the world? That type of bravery can't be bought," the 40-year-old reality star said. "It's amazing because I feel like I'm just being a mom. To turn your back on your child is something that I could never fathom. A mother's love is unconditional."
