Justin Bieber was under fire after two videos leaked of the singer making racial slurs. Pastor Carl Lenz baptized the singer in a NYC bathtub, according to TMZ, as his cover was blown when he checked out churches and wanted to keep it private. Lenz notes Bieber spent a week last month doing intensive bible study.
The Huffington Post adds he started looking for places in February after a photo surfaced of Biebs with an adult dancer. He issued an apology for his racist videos, stating:
"As a young man, I didn't understand the power of certain words and how they can hurt. I thought it was OK to repeat hurtful words and jokes, but didn't realize at the time that it wasn't funny and that in fact my actions were continuing the ignorance. I take my friendships with people of all cultures very seriously and I apologize for offending or hurting anyone with my childish and inexcusable mistake. I was a kid then and I am a man now who knows my responsibility to the world and to not make that mistake again."
Fellow friends of Bieber, such as Usher and Soulja Boy, have come to his defense, assuring he is not racist.
We told you last month the "Baby" singer was featured in Brandon Burket's #iPledge video, where he talks about God and forgiveness. He is seen sitting on a couch with Burket noting Christian belief that Jesus died on the cross for our sins.
"God loved the world so much he gave up his own son, right?" he asks. "Imagine, like, someone killing your son. Like a bunch of people killing your [son]. These are your people, right? It's like, how are you killing my son? That's my son. It's gonna be hard for you to forgive. God forgave everyone and they killed his son. That shows how much grace God has."
