It's a girl for Kerry Washington! The "Scandal" actress and retired NFL star Nnamdi Asomugha welcomed her first daughter nearly two weeks ago, TMZ has learned.
The birth certificate was released Friday, noting the baby was born on April 21 at 5pm. She goes by the name Isabelle Amarachi Asomugha. People magazine was second to confirm the news.
The former cornerback signed the certificate on April 29 as the father and as the attendant who served as legal witness to the birth on April 24.
"Kerry is at home busy with the baby," a soure told the site.
According to baby name sites the name translates to "Grace of God" or "God's Grace."
Washington is best known for playing Olivia Pope on "Scandal" and her role in Oscar-nominated film "Django Unchained." The third season was cut from 22 to 18 episodes, and creator Shonda Rimes had to cleverly disguise her growing bump.
The star was mainly seen hiding behind oddly placed lamps and plants.
Washington wed Asomugha in secret last June.
"I'm walking around in the world with my ring," she told Glamour in September. "And when people say congratulations, I say thank you. But I'm going to continue to not talk about it and just let it unfold... I learned through experience that it doesn't work for me to talk about my personal life."
The actress first showed off her bump in January at the Golden Globes.
"I have the best date of the night - my little accessory," she joked of her belly on the red carpet.
Washington seemed to handle pregnancy with grace, speaking to The Hollywood Reporter last month.
"I work very physically as an actor," she explained. "The biggest thing for me has been the challenge of how to be this person [Scandal's Olivia Pope] with the personal transformation that's going on for me physically and how to stay true to this character. That hasn't been easy."
