"Girl Meets World" will follow the Disney Channel original movie "Zapped!" starring Zendaya. After a week-long hiatus, the series will return on July 11 at 8:30 p.m. News of the spin-off was announced last year.
The Hollywood Reporter notes the first season will air 21 episodes, and is directed by star Ben Savage. It was created by Michael Jacobs and April Kelly, and hails from It's a Laugh and Michael Jacobs productions.
"Boy Meets World" aired from 1993-2000 as part of ABC'S "TGIF" block.
Returning cast members include Ben Savage (Cory), Danielle Fishel (Topanga), William Daniels (Mr. Feeny) and Lee Norris (Minkus). Cory's parents will be in as well, played by William Russ and Betsy Randle.
Of course Shawn Hunter will be back as well, played by Rider Strong!
"Girl Meets World" centers on Cory and Topanga's daughter Riley (Rowan Blanchard) and her best friend Maya (Sabrina Carpenter), who navigate the struggles of middle school. Cory works as a history teacher in the school and has to learn his daughter is growing up.
